How I Stopped My Aggressive Rheumatoid Arthritis Without Biologics (and got my life back)

If you’re anything like me, you have rheumatoid arthritis and you’re tired of being sick and tired. You have ongoing pain that is slowly taking away the things you enjoy…

Your clean house, your holidays, your income, the way you like to exercise, your energy and the fun you use to have in life. It’s a frustrating place to be in and you don’t know how to get out of it.

That’s where I come in, I’m Lisa Cornwell, RN, HCLC-C, and I was diagnosed with Seronegative Rheumatoid Arthritis.

I hope She Fights RA will become a resource for you on your quest for great health.

When they told me my RA was aggressive and I had trouble walking from my car to my office I decided it was time to take my health back.

I’m a registered nurse (RN), certified American Institute of Health Care Professionals Health Care Coach (HCLC-C), I have a Masters of Science in Technical Teacher education and I completed the Intensive Functional Nutrition Alliance Full Body Systems course.

After years of watching my energy level go down, my joints swell, my mobility decrease, my medication increase I decided to take charge, listen to my heart, and listen to my body.

Taking back my health was a gradual but powerful process of nutrition, supplements, sleep, sunshine, exercise and stress reduction… but it worked!

I have gone from being so sick I could barely get off the sofa to someone who has gotten off all my medication and am able to travel, work part time, and enjoy my grandchildren.

Along the way I’ve researched, tried, and worked with clients with RA… and that’s lead me to 3 core beliefs that…

· Biologics Are Not Safe or Effective Long Term for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Look, I have friends who are on Biologics, some are doing better and some aren’t. But after a lot of research and finding other ways I’ve come to the conclusion that for someone who wants to live 10 or 20 years longer, who wants to stay mobile and be able to live life… there are better answers than biologic drugs.

· Restful Sleep is a Key to Recovery

As a mom and working professional I spent too much of my life trying to “do it all”. Going to bed late and getting up early. I now see just how important sleep and rest are for longevity and beating RA. Now, I’m more productive and healthier the more sleep I get.

· Our Food Can and Will Heal Us (if we let it)

I live on a farm. We raise cattle and all kinds of grains. I love beef and homemade bread, but the truth is it won’t make everyone sick but it did me. We all have individual diet needs based on our genes, our lifestyle and our health conditions. Changing my diet to plant based and avoiding all the warm bread, cinnamon rolls, and homemade grains I loved seemed like the end of the world. Now I know it isn’t and I know the food we eat can heal us too.

Testimonials

Lisa responded to questions quickly and was very knowledgeable about the nutritional information. I lost 13 lbs in 6 weeks. The pain in my hands went from an 8 on a 1-10 pain scale to a 0. My swelling decreased from a 6 to a 1. The diet portion of my plan was easy to follow. It was nice having an easy plan, recipes, a grocery list each week.

Lisa has been the best life coach for my health and well-being! Pain and fatigue were keeping me from enjoying the things I love like my family, friends, and my job. She was able to personalize a plan that adjusted the way I ate and gave me the tools to de-stress and get the sleep I needed. By taking into consideration my habits that were working against me, she replaced them with healthier options that were easy for me to implement. Within the first couple of weeks of working with Lisa, my fatigue began to disappear. By the 4th week I saw a decrease in nagging pain. I was feeling and sleeping so much better. An added bonus was losing 10 pounds without even trying! Lisa has the experience, knowledge, and passion to help others!

How Can You Be Next?

Living with RA can be a “bad thing”. Your hands hurt, fingers swell and then stop working.

Knees and stairs become a “thing” and if you’re lucky some of the drugs they give you will temporarily stop the side effects of the disease allowing you to have a somewhat normal life.

But, if getting left behind by your spouse and kids isn’t feeling good (it felt terrible to me). And if you want to age gracefully and play with your grandkids like I do. I encourage you to make the decision to take back your health.

My journey to health was a bumpy road full of unexpected curves. And that’s how it is for everyone (if they choose to handle this).

My goal is to help guide you down that road and through all the curves and bumps. I want to give you strategies and ideas to stop the pain of RA, reverse the disease, and find your energy again.

Not to mention helping you avoid the many side effects of the disease and medications (like wheelchairs and cancer)
